Vivaldi by Alfredo Russo – Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel & Towers

The Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel is an iconic landmark and being located in a prominent area, the hotel is a go-to place for both residents and tourists of Dubai. Known for its fine dine restaurants, Vivaldi by Chef Alfredo Russo is definitely a jewel in the crown.
I was here one weekend afternoon and enjoyed my experience. The place is palatial with ample seating overlooking the creek. There is a good write up introducing the restaurant and I got to read about how the restaurant is named after the famous Chef Alfredo Russo who is a Michelin star chef and is known world over for his Italian delicacies.
Selecting the drinks can be a tedious job especially when you want to try something different. We called for a Maracujina and a Florida from the mocktails. One was a passion fruit with mango puree, lime & cranberry juice and a dash of sugar and the other was a grape fruit and lime juice mixed with sugar syrup topped with soda. The Maracujina with passion fruit was clearly a winner and for all those grape fruit lovers, you should not miss the Florida.
In the starters we tried the Burrata. I’ve had more burrata in Italian restaurants here than in Italy itself. The Burrata is served with wild broccoli cream and olives. Now this one sure makes it very different.

We also tried the crispy deep fried squid served with tartare sauce. I’ve developed a taste for squid now and enjoy it the most when they are really crispy. This one did not disappoint me.

We were suggested the Parmigiana Di Melanzane that has a base of eggplant with parmesan, mozzarella, tomatoes and fresh basil. The flavors of tomatoes with eggplant and the cheese layered on top makes this dish irresistible.

Not that I enjoyed the starters any less, the mains definitely surprised me pleasantly. We had a Risotto with saffron essence and Spinach Tortelli served in a cotton napkin and Tiger Prawns with onions on ash. The Risotto was simple yet exquisite, rich and cheesy with sheets of saffron, this one is a must have. The Spinach Tortilla are beautifully served like a bouquet of flowers hidden inside a napkin. These pockets of spinach were delicious. My love for seafood was perfectly satisfied with the finely grilled prawns served with caramelized onions. They were grilled to perfection and were succulent.

We ended the meal with some simple looking desserts that had a fine taste. We called for a Creme Brûlée with vanilla ice cream and raspberries and a Panacotta with caramel. The Panacotta  we were told was made without gelatin and this for sure is a speciality. The cream brûlée was no less delicious served in a glass layered with berries, ice cream and with cream foam.
