Soulgreen – Vida Creek Harbour

Located on the outside of Vida Creek Harbour Hotel, this is a gem that definitely stands out from the crowd. With the restaurant scene getting busier by the day, the concept of a plant based cuisine that has some innovative and absolutely delicious creations. The Dubai Creek Harbour itself is a world in itself and has already begun to be inhabited and the Soulgreen restaurant is surely going to be a crowd puller.

An unassuming place from the outside, it has the most beautiful and lush green interiors. With plants around the place and beautiful lanterns hanging from the ceiling, the place gives a calm and serene feel. We were told that 80% of the menu was plant based and 20% of it based on fish items that were sustainably sourced.

What’s totally impressive is their concept of free water. The restaurant serves free filtered still and sparkling water. The menu is simple and digital with selection and ordering done online using a tablet device. The service is brilliant.

We started our meal with the 100% gluten free Focassia Bread. It is unbelievable that this is even bread – light and perfectly fluffed, this focassia bread makes me want to move to the Creek Harbour.

An Italian cuisine based menu, from the appetizers we had the From the starters, we had the Crisps & Dips, Bruschetta with twin tomatoes and Grilled Corn. The crisps & dips and chunky potatoes seasoned well and cooked perfectly to be crispy on the outside and soft inside. Served with soy mayonnaise, ketchup and BBQ sauce, these are irresistible. The bruschetta with gluten free bread and tomatoes was in par or better than the original Italian recipe. The Grilled Corn was so soft, so tender yet so well done that I happened to eat more than the kernel. We had the Asian Exotic smoothie that had pineapple, passion fruit, mango, papaya, banana and coconut water. It was as exotic as its name.

In the mains, we had the Mish Mash Soup, an Asian Bowl and the Red Quinoa Burger. The soup is an Indian lentil soup with crunchy vegetable and this can be a meal by itself. The Asian Bowl has combinations that are absolutely unique. With sesame rice, vegetable wok and tofu, this bowl is definitely a wholesome meal. My apprehensions of how the quinoa burger would be went away with just one bite into it. The light and absolutely nutritious burger with gluten free bread stole my heart.

We ended the meal with a Mango Cheesecake and the recommended Vegan ice creams. The mango cheesecake is made of cashew cream and topped with mango glaze. It was a visual delight and a treat to the taste buds. We tried the mango, almond and strawberry flavored ice creams and these are great guilt free – diary free option for the summer.

A scrumptious and eco-friendly meal, I can’t wait to go back.
