Catch 22

Catch 22 is a great seafood fusion restaurant by the beach on JBR. The place is done up so well and with quirky interiors and exteriors that it would be difficult not to notice it. They have some good indoor and outdoor seating. With winter round the corner I am sure the outdoor seating is going to be in demand.

The staff are friendly and courteous. They are familiar to the menu and provide excellent suggestions. Oksana showed us inside and helped us with the table.Lisa and Monette served us and were extremely helpful. Waleed the Supervisor also came in regularly to check if everything was fine.

We started our meal here with an absolutely refreshing Mojito that had apple juice, mint leaves, soda, lime wedges and crushed ice and we also called for a sinfully delicious Chocolate Vanilla MilkShake.

Then came the starters. The staff suggested that we try the C22 Shrimps and we definitely don’t regret the choice. These never go out of fashion and seem to be getting better by the day in every new place. These were batter fried shrimps tossed with spiced chilli aioli served over sweet and sour tropical fruit salsa. We also called for a Crispy Lobster Crab that was slow poached lobster and crab with fried panko and chives.

We then called for a Cheeseburger Quesadilla that had layers of melty seasoned cheeseburger, crispy tortillas, queso sauce with pepper cheese, salsa, sour cream and guacamole. These tasted great with the well done meat and cheese blending very well.

We also had the Teriyaki Hammour Fish from the Catch Sticks menu. This was lime and chilli glazed Hammour grilled with smoked chilli and a sweet mango sauce. The fish was fresh and was a little sweet for my liking.

The last of the main dishes was a Creamy Pasta with grilled chicken . This had pasta tossed in cream and truffle oil. This could have been better with the pasta being a little more creamy. The staff took this feedback immediately and asked us if they could replace the same which we did not opt for.

For the desserts we were suggested to try to Popcorn Chocolate Ganache, a gooey ganache baked with chocolate chip cookies, caramel popcorn, fresh raspberries and vanilla ice cream. This was the highlight of the meal. The ganache was really nice and gooey as tasted very good. A true delight for chocolate lovers. We also had the Peach and Blueberry Cobbler which had chargrilled peaches and blueberries with crunchy toffee candy, creamy crumble and caramel ice cream. It was good as well however the taste of the Chocolate Ganache overshadowed this one.

Thank you team Catch 22 for having us over !
