Friday brunch at Choices – Al Bustan Rotana

The name Choices is apt for this place. In fact you are spoilt for choice with such an elaborate menu. It was the launch of the new menu for the Friday brunch which was based on a “Back to school” theme with counter such as the slider station and the oreo based desserts specially created to go with this theme.

The food stands start from the lobby itself and then inside the restaurant. The place seems popular as it was pretty crowded. The staff are friendly and helpful. Even though this is a brunch, the staff do assist and in a very friendly manner.

I would not be able to do justice to this review if I were to describe each and every dish and hence will list down all the types of cuisines or sections of the brunch and tell you a little more about the dishes I liked.

In the lobby they had the Japanese, Oriental, Mediterranean and Thai food counters. With this there was a huge selection of hot and clod desserts as well. Inside the restaurant there was loads of more food with fresh poached seafood, cold cuts, fresh and marinated salads and a huge variety of hot food.

There was a Slider station with colourful sliders displayed with french fries and an amazing dessert counter with just Oreo based specialities.

There were live cooking stations as well serving Pasta, Falafel, Grilled meat and Chicken shawarma.

To start with, there is a Japanese counter which serves a large variety of sushi and maki. I tried the California maki with crab meat and enjoyed it. In the salads we tried the Sweet Coleslaw salad, Greek salad, Oven baked pumpkin and feta cheese salad.The pumpkin and cheese salad is something different from the regular salads and tasted good as well.

We then had the Crispy prawn steamed Bao bun, Mexican crispy chicken slider and the Italian beef and pesto slider along with some french fries. These were just some of the sliders being served. The good thing was that they were being replenished regularly so we could enjoy eating them hot.

We called for a Watermelon juice and a Pineapple juice to drink. Both the juices were served cold and were nice.

With so much of food on display it really makes it difficult to choose on what to eat. We ended up having the hot dishes served in the chafing dishes. Of these, we tried the Corn on the cob kebab – cob wrapped in a foil like a kabab, the Butter chicken, the Seafood biryani and the Mutton rogan josh.

The huge selections of desserts were enticing us by now. From the Oreo specialities we tried the Oreo Tiramisu and the Oreo Bake Cheese cake. The tiramisu was really good.From their international selection of cakes and pastries, we tried the Chocolate Volcano and the Blueberry panna cotta and finally from the Hot and Cold Oriental Pastries we tried the Cheese kunafa.

With so many cuisines and the variety of dishes in each cuisine, this brunch will satisfy the food cravings of anyone and everyone.
